Comments on Slonneger genealogy

Christian K Slonneger [1838 - 1920] and John C Slonneger [1839 - 1921] were the first two sons of Jacob Schlunegger [1813 - 1880] and they changed their surname to Slonneger. Later sons of Jacob also changed their surname, but to Slonaker, Sloneker or Schlonaker.

John Slonneger

Christian K Slonneger married Emma Mitchel 23 Dec 1875 in Preble, OH., and he was listed in the 1900 Federal Census as Christian K Slonneger, widowed and as an insurance agent living in Liberty, Indiana. Christian married Margaret Beard-Smith sometime after 1900 and was listed in the 1910 and 1920 census as married to Margaret. In Liberty, IN 47353 there is a street 3 blocks long named North Slonneger Street. The Slonaker book listed three children by his first marriage, Dora Bertha, Mitchel, and Helen, but I’ve found nothing further on the children. Does anyone have any knowledge of the three children born after 1875 and before 1900?

More was learned about John C Slonneger’s oldest son Albert [1864-1941] who married Theresa Keenan Nov 22, 1893 and had three children, Harold [1895-], Grace [1897-], and John [1899-]. The 1910 Census listed Theresa married to Charles A Belden with her children living in Everett City, Washington and her children listed as stepchildren of Charles with the last name Slonneger. Does anyone that happens onto this website have any information on Harold, Grace and John? In the 1930 Federal Census Albert lived in Davenport, Scott County, Iowa and his spouse was listed as Clara L Slonneger.

Comments on Kinsinger/Ellsaesser genealogyTheodore Ellsaesser

My Kinsinger cousins and I have a GGG Grandfather and a GGG Grandmother that were brother and sister (Nafziger). Our GGG Grandfather Christian Nafzizer [1775-1829] married Katherina Maurer and our GGG Grandmother Magdalena Nafziger [1782-1824] married Christian Esch. As a result we can have a maxim of 62 GGGG Grandparents rather than the normal possible of 64.

Another interesting finding is that the first wife of our Great Grandfather Charles Theodore Ellsaesser [1848-1913] was Elizabeth Franklin [1884-1882]. Elizabeth Franklin's GG Grandfather was Benjamin Franklin [1706-1790]. My cousins and I are descendants of Charles Theodore's second wife, Louise Abalonia Rastedter [1859-1944]. Charles Theodore Ellsaesser is shown on the right.
